WHAT IS GOLD PLATED?
Gold plated jewelry is a layer of solid gold applied on a brass or copper base by the electrolysis method. Although the gold layer is much thinner than that of the gold-filled pieces, it doesn’t mean low quality. In fact, a gold plated piece can be very valuable if it has a high gold karat weight (more than 20k) and a thick layer of gold (more than 1 micron thick). Our gold plated chains and closures at DENÓMADE have a 24k plating of 2-3 micron thick.
